I'm grateful for the warning about the possible mitm attack 06:00 Dec 1 UTC and 20:00 Dec 2 UTC, but can' t the admins determine who used passwords at that time?  Do they not have a log?

The whole point was that between the indicated times, there's a chance that the login information was intercepted by a man-in-the-middle attack and therefore did not end up at the bitcointalk server, so not in the logs either.
