cgminer issues

so , a couple things...
A: cgminer will not work with guiminer-scrypt. i click the start button, and nothing happens. absolutly nothing shows up in console, etc. reaper works, however, that doesn't ahve stratum.
win 8 pro, fx-8350, 7970 running 13.11 beta

and B: i think i'm on a shared ip address at a university, so the ip-post time limit is really problematic....

never mind... the command runs, but I don't see the cgminer.exe...
and... it was my AV fucking with shit.
