VPS services are gonna love the BTC forum and our cpu hungry needs LMAO

Sign up for Digital Ocean https://www.digitalocean.com/?refcode=5814ebea2a12

Use my refferal link if you want to help the cause, I plan on using any credit i get to create more folding instances

Use promo code OMGSSD10 for $10 credit, there is a $20 credit code, but i think its expired, feel free to google the promo codes, its might still be active.

Use a 13.04 distro of Ubuntu when making your droplet

Use putty ( freeware ) to log in to your droplet, your password and ip are sent to your email.

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

wget --no-check-certificate https://fah.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/release/fahclient/debian-testing-64bit/v7.3/fahclient_7.3.6_amd64.deb
wget --no-check-certificate https://fah.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/release/fahcontrol/debian-testing-64bit/v7.3/fahcontrol_7.3.6-1_all.deb

During this next step you will be asked for your folding@home username , team number ( 224497 for Curecoin Team ) , and your private passkey - have your passkey ready

sudo dpkg -i --force-depends fahclient_7.3.6_amd64.deb    --- This is the one that prompts for your user detials - Use the autostart option and full folding power

sudo dpkg -i --force-depends fahcontrol_7.3.6-1_all.deb

sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient start    --- Should not be nessacary if you choose autostart

sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient log     --- This will display your stats on the current work unit

Thats it ! Done, you now have a headless linux folding VPS

If you want to sponser some folding droplets feel free to donate any cryptocoin to the cause.
If you would like to not mess with folding but see your name on the team list ill create an account with your nickname and set it up on a droplet.

It works! looks like im getting about 400 PPD on 1 cpu / 512 ram ... that adds up over time, i wonder how fast the 24 cpu one folds...   So if u use the whole $10 credit to folding thats about 24k points for free. Maybe more ram will make it run better... anyone else try this?

It would be worth a shot, but with 24 CPUs you'd want to go bigadv, which does require a bit of memory (4GB should be more than enough). Also, just use a program like top or htop to check memory usage, if its using the swap its gonna kill performance.

$ sudo apt-get install htop
$ htop

512MB should be enough for a single CPU, my 8-core WU is only using 453MB.

Still folding away on a vps, a single 1 cpu vps does add some points to the totals.
