I regret not being the first miners, and I'm quickly wanting it to die or an an alt coin to take over. I resent it

I guess if you were promoting it merely as an investment vehicle, then I can understand your sentiment. Maybe that`s why we`re seeing such strong gains in litecoin recently... investors (who are the vast majority of people interested in bitcoin) want a new coin to explode in value and are eyeing litecoin?

Night gathers, and now my bitcoinwisdom watch begins.

No. I spend a lot of time on twitter and real-life debating people (often gold bugs) about the merits of bitcoin, both technical and economic.

Bitcoin is many incredible advancements rolled into one:

1) Humanity's first authoritative decentralized record system.
2) The first credible electronic limited supply money/asset.
3) Humanity's first monetary system where the supply dynamics are (credibly) fully known to all participants.
4) The internet's first real protocol for exchanging value.
...etc...

How is that not exciting? It's even *more* exciting that more people are starting to realize the value of the above.

Some great articles/posts making these points:

Naval Ravikant's (Founder/CEO of https://angel.co/) "The Internet of Money":
http://startupboy.com/2013/11/07/bitcoin-the-internet-of-money/

Jeremy Allaire's (Founder http://www.circle.com, Founder http://www.brightcove.com/): "Digital Currency and Arc of the Internet":
http://www.circle.com/2013/10/30/digital-currency-and-the-arc-of-the-internet/

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.
