Hello All.

Upfront let me start by saying wow.. how simple is it to get started in the bitcoining community. I first thought about doing this 10-12 months ago and forgot about it. some reason tonight I rebuilt my PC and decided to give it a shot. I haven't collected all my thoughts and I know most will be thinking " Oh look, someone just discovered bitcoins/farming" I can understand that, however I find the farming process to discover a block interesting.

I guess instead of just posting a "I <3 bitcoins" thread i'll finish with a question (or 3)

1. How did you get interested in Bitcoins enough to start farming/watching the exchange
2. How long have you been doing it for?

Thanks All! Smiley

hi there, as you can see I'm new around these parts too though my account is probably a little older than yours I just lurked til now. I like the farming thing BTW, I'm thinking fresh air and sunshine not a humid and dusty mine, sounds more appealing to me anyway!

I got into btc straight after the first silk road story  broke tbh, figured if  THAT could work with coin then there had to be huge potential.

Think that might answer both your questions  Roll Eyes

Before everyone pounces on you, it's mining, not farming Smiley

Also, if you're mining on your PC at home you might want to work out if it's worthwhile (i.e. will you spend more electricity than you'll make back in Bitcoin - that being the case, you'd be better spending the money directly on Bitcoins; you'll also have the benefit of saving yourself weeks/months of time).

Welcome Cheesy

Edit: Forgot to answer your questions.

I got interested from hearing about it on a website somewhere years ago. The concept was interesting and that's what hooked me.

If this post was useful, interesting or entertaining, then you've misunderstood.

ah yes - my bad. it is mining. Farming comes to mind. won't edit though as it's a welcome by fire Wink I'm going to give it a week or so to calculate the costs and see if it's worth doing in its current state. I have a few machines which need to be on 24/7 and by tweaking a little I have dropped the power consumption. i'll see how it goes Smiley

Thanks for answering the questions so far!

1. How did you get interested in Bitcoins enough to start farming/watching the exchange

I think I first came across something about Bitcoin on Youtube in 2011. I bought my first GPU for mining then but quit when BTC price was 4USD freaked me out over a power bill and losing money. Big loss of opportunity obv. Got back in Feb this year when it was 35USD

2. How long have you been doing it for?

Actively not as long as I would have like - meh regrets.

Anyway you are hear now. My hint is take stock of your life and work out is the opportunity worth the cost  Cheesy
After all I've seen and done i can say now it IS.

I first read about mining i quess 2+ years ago. Didnt think it will catch fire like this has now.
Now im going to jump to mining train, but not for getting rich. Just for fun and little bit of extra cash.

Been seeing it for at least a year. I saw it on 4chan somewhere, and downloaded a wallet, but decided that mining was not worth my time or effort. Just a fortnight back,I saw the exchange rate on MtGox for shits and giggles. So much regret...
