Has anyone thought/heard about or worked on a framework to allow a company to operate with completely open books by leveraging the transparency of the bitcoin network?

I'm launching a t-shirt business which would ideally be operated completely open - the About Us: "All company intellectual property will be freely available for download; all partners, costs, and margins will be publicly available; and 5% of profits will go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation."

Unfortunately, I don't know how to open my books and be trustworthy doing so without the bitcoin network (why would people believe me if I posted financials, etc.?) and developing the infrastructure to accomplish as much is beyond the scope of my lowly t-shirt enterprise :-(.

What a lovely idea. This would be pretty sweet for charities as well... it would make it super easy to check that the funds go where they are supposed to. We all know that it often gets in the hands of warlords or, sadly, the organization uses it to have expensive parties at The Ritz.

Right - I think it would be great for business/charity and consumer - the business/charity doesn't have to work hard to prove their legitimacy, as it's self-evident, and the consumer can trust the business/charity without too much hassle (especially if there is a trusted auditing website).

Which license would you be using for this? Everything Creative Commons?
Btw I would buy from a shop like that for sure Smiley

I haven't licensed anything, but I'll look into it. Do I have to license it, or can I just give it out? For now, everything's just available for download.

Is the EFF the best charity to donate to? Got any other suggestions?

I think it would be a good idea, in fact I would be surprised if it hasn't been done somewhere already.
