Wallet Info

Hello,

I am new to this forum and to cryptocurrencies world and I have a couple of basic questions/clarifications about wallets.

1. In a mining rig there must be a wallet installed to receive coins?
2. To receive coins the wallet must be open?
3. If I mine some altcoins and don't have installed the wallet for them can I send them directly to an address of mine on an exchange?

to my understanding the aswers are:

1. no
2. no
3. yes

could someone please confirm?
