This event received broad coverage at r/Bitcoin, but little here (probably due to the man-in-the-middle attack over the weekend).

Google shows the MSM has disseminated this story via 11 outlets already.  I expect this to excite several young people to display bitcoin QR codes in prominent places, hoping to earn some cash.  I think the innovative ones will be rewarded.

For example, there was a long-standing tradition in UBC Engineering to hang a VW bug from some crazy location (the most high-profile example was the VW bug hung from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco).   Tagging the car with a bitcoin QR code would no doubt be even more controversial, but I bet it would attract a lot of donations.

The race is on to get your QR code into Google maps' satellite view, I guess. The bigger, the better!
