So I purcashed this server which has 12.4Gh/s and I tried to CPU Mine using it, but nothing worked out for me ..

I honestly don't really care right now If I'm about to lose money mining threw this or not, I just want to learn right now how to do it and I just couldn't understand how to make it work.

After reading a lot, I understood I had to CPU Mine via this server and not GPU Mining,
but afterwards I couldn't understand how to CPU Mine.
I downloaded this Ufasoft software but I'm synching it for like 2 days and it is still 400 (Give or take) days back.

How can I CPU Mine? Is there anyone around here that can help me?

*I want to mine Bitcoins.

Thanks a lot !

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

This is what I have.

BTW, I updated the java and now The BitMinter is running (Opened it twice).
Why I don't see any progress in the BitMinter site?

Is there anyway I'll be able to mine using Slush's pool & GUIMiner?

look, sorry man

who told you a CPU could do 12GH/s?

Nevermind, this is not the point.
How fast can it mine? and also why I don't see any progress on BitMinter?

How fast can it mine?

not sure, a few MH/s?  certainly not fast enough to make any sense at all

CPU mining became uneconomic over 3 years ago when the GPU software really got going

GPU mining became uneconomic over a year ago as the first FPGA solutions drove the difficulty up further

FPGAs are doorstops now because the bare metal custom ASICs are ripping the lid off

and you are still trying to mine with a CPU, I am sorry, it is pointless

here are a couple sites to look at

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

http://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

http://bitcoin.sipa.be/

Thank you, but what is this Asic?
I saw on eBay and more that there is this ASIC USB miner.. This is what you are talking about? (Which mines at 330MH/s).

BTW
It has been hashing for like three hours at 150 Kha/s but there is no activity at the BitMinter site..

ASIC=Application Specific Integrated Circuit, silicon chips designed from the ground up to hash SHA256

If your ap is showing hash and the CPU is getting hot but your pool is not showing it I would suspect an error in your config string, read the site's setup page carefully and check your string syntax

also, by the way, your 150KH/s should mine you $0.003/month at current prices...yes, one third of one cent per month

WOW, At this rate I'll become rich by 4579.. Cool. ( Tongue )

And yes there are some errors:

BTW it isn't 150KH/s it is 150Khps (Any different? - I'm really new to this things..).

You might want to read the following article:

Anything less than an ASIC device is not going to be profitable at current prices.

One way to look at this is not as gold mining but diamond mining.doing a hash is like getting a shovelful of rock. Find a block is like finding a diamond. You dig a lot of rocks with no diamond.

The difficulty level is how rare the chance of finding a diamond is.

you are digging thousands of shovels as second a GPU will do 100 million to 200 million, a $50 ASIC will do 333 million. an $1000 one will do 30 Billion

A big mining pool is doing 413 Trillion all together and the find a diamond every 1.5 to 2 hrs (or 1 min or 5 hrs  but luck balances out over time)

So if 413 trillion takes over an hour how long will 150 thousand take?

Merge mine BLC+PHO+ELT+XDQ+BBTC+UMO+LIT pool is open http://la1.blakecoin.com tips: 1MogRiTHpQZ7bkpq49cSVWADrTt7Jrghp
