I have been lurking on the boards for several weeks, but I finally decided to create an account so I can start taking part in the giveaways, like the ADT one going on now.

I'm not really interested in mining coins as much as I am buying them.  I have some family in China, so I know that there is a huge surge in interest over there in virtual currencies.  I'm mainly interested in buying some of the 13 different coins sold on BTC38.com because I believe the Chinese will continue to push these coins up in price.  My first purchase was for some Ripple XRP on the Chinese auction site taobao.com.  Since then, I have sent those Ripple to Kraken.com to exchange for bitcoin.  Later I'm going to send my bitcoin to cryptsy.com to buy some other alt coins.

I am very impressed with the ease of transferring money between Ripple and Kraken.com.  While I'm not sure about the XRP coin as an investment, I feel confident that their platform is going to make serious waves.  Having lived abroad for awhile, I would have loved to have something like Ripple back then to exchange currencies.
