You really should stop mining w/ your graphics card.  you're using more energy than your'e mining.  Get an ASIC

You should really stop asuming you know what you are talking about... unless OP is mining Bitcoin, in which case, carry on.

Scrypt mining with GPUs = profitable unless you pay $0.75/kwh

You really should learn to read the forum this thread is in... BITCOIN - MINING - HARDWARE
Thus, the logical inference is that he's mining BTC w/ GPUs.

If he's talking about mining scrypt, which I am guessing he is, then it's my way of saying "Hey OP, learn to read and post in the correct subforum."

Scrypt mining talk is irrelevant here, since BITCOIN is not scrypt...  Too many ppl posting in the WRONG subforums, it's quite annoying to readers and I'm sure to the mods as well, having to move posts every single day.  I don't know why people can't read.

yes you can
just avoid to use the DVD at the same time because it consumes up to 200 watts

Check and see if your PSU can put out 400W on the 12v rail(s).  If it can then you can add 1 more.  If it can't then no.

If you don't understand that, then you need to read more on the forums or use google before making a purchase.

Well tell me your PSU model and what CPU and drives you're running - I can tell you if you have enough clearance.

Well tell me your PSU model and what CPU and drives you're running - I can tell you if you have enough clearance.

- AMD FX -8120 Eight-Core 3.10 GHz
- 8GB RAM
- Win8.1 64 Bit
- PSU 500 Watt  ( PSU has 1x6Pin + 1x8Pin Cable left. )
- Radeon HD 7850
- ASUS Motherboard  M5A97
- PSU SAGA II 500
(My PC is constantly running on 200 Watts , max. 250)

I know some day I have to change my PSU (at least when getting a third card)
the question is if it would work in the meanwhile with 2 cards and my old PSU

I was mining BTC with a HD7850 and a noname 500W PSU back in February - I had stability issues with that setup, after I changed to a 600W corsair gaming PSU, everything was nice and stable. As said before, you have to calculate on the 12V rails.

Without knowing the specs on you PSU, my stomach feel say that you cannot run a additional mining GPU on you 500W PSU, unless your PSU has an powerful and stable 12V rail.

The answer is yes, but you have to becareful cause 150 watt GPU may draw more power as expected. You will need a watt meter to know for sure...

You might getaway with it - make sure the two GPU's run on each of two 12V powerlines.
