Hello, newbie here. I'm going to pursue mostly a buy and hold BTC strategy, but I thought I'd learn and experiment a little with mining and cloud hashing, at least for the next month or two while it still makes sense. I figure I'll be able to sell back the hardware and GH in that timeframe and hopefully not lose too much in the process. I have a Red Fury Bitfury USB ASIC on my laptop for fun. It's on just one of the USB ports, no external cooling, etc. The only way I could get it mining was with cgminer after using zadig to swap for the WinUSB driver. I tried the virtual com drivers from FTDI, but I just couldn't get bfgminer working. Maybe I gave up too soon. My question is more about hashrate though. This device was advertised as 2+GH. I'm only getting 1.4GH or 1.5GH using cgminer with the BTC pool. I thought it might be low power, so I just ordered a small powered Anker hub. I figured why not, it'll make for a nicer mini "rig" on eBay. Learning experience. Anyway, do you think the hub will help with the hashrate, or should I slog it out again trying different drivers and mining programs? Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.
