Visit coinmarketcap.com.

About 42 promising coins are listed.

Besides, some new coins are gaining momentum.

Continuing off his post,

Mine dogecoins!  Grin

Haha I'm not being serious.

Mine some if you want, but sell them immediately for btc.

You never know when dogecoin dies.

Bitcoin, Litecoin, Feathercoin
You want a coin that has a high trade volume so you can liquidate quickly, but you also want a coin that has a reasonably stable price.
Over the past few days the prices of all coins dropped but if you were watching carefully you would have noticed that coins like Litecoin and Feathercoin didn't change relative to Bitcoin.  Litecoin at 0.03 and Feathercoin at 0.0006
Stablecoin has the promise of a coin mixing service and this point of difference sets it apart from all other coins so far.
The volume of Stablecoin has not reached that of Bitcoin, Litecoin or Feathercoin but is still a great investment.

I have to agree, too risky keeping the altcoins
Use pools which mine most profitable altcoin and converting to Bitcoin immediatelly

I think the Quarkcoin train has already left, it seems very doubtful that it would sustain a higher market cap than Namecoin.

The coins I think might hold some value in the future are:

Quark
GalaxyCoin
GrowthCoin
GridCoin

And of course, Dogecoin.  Can't leave out the Doge.  However, I currently mine Litecoin and Feathercoin.  I see those two as having the most potential for use beyond simply exchanging them on currencies in hopes of making some quick cash.  These coins are already being decently used for real world transactions for goods and services and I am putting some faith in them.

GridCoin is promising because it actually contributes to society as a whole.  Instead of crush arbitrary numbers that do nothing at all.
