I think I may have shipped out less than 1000 total blanks."You might think that you can turn a 5BTC coin into one of these "blanks" by just getting all remnants of the hologram off. But, whatever you do, someone (maybe a trained eye) will notice its a "circulated" coin. An original blank (like this) is obviously not circulated, and so it looks perfect on BOTH sides-(see pictures). And the overarching thing - if Casascius made it and confirms it is real-it is just that ; )
So, realize what it truly is you're buying!
