Hi all,

I'm new to bitcoin, and I want to start mining using special hardware.

My PC can get 100MH/s using 2 video cards. I saw on some other topic that you can earn about $0.47 with every 5Mh/s per month with the current difficulty. This would result in about 9$ a month, which is definitely not profitable. I saw some cheap mining hardware on the internet (BFL jalapeno) for about $400 on ebay that would get me to 5Gh/s.

Say I buy one of those jalapeno's and let it run day and night for a month, how much would the profit be? What's the average profit with 5GH/s? And do I have to mine in a pool with 5GH/s or is this enough to mine on my own?

Thanks in advance,

Resitive

Try an calculator like evolyn.net, it'll give you an idea how much you should spend.
A jalapeno is worth nothing more like 50USD, if you'd like to get some out of it.
If you're paying more, you should better just buy the BTC and wait.

I have a Jalapeno, and it does mine 0.0026 BTC in the last 24 hours. That's about 2 dollars a day.
BTW, that one you saw on the internet is way too expensive. When I bought it, it was 150 dollars.

You can mine some new alt-coins though with 100Mh/s hardware. You just missed the DOGE boat by a week, its gone massively viral but the difficulty is high now.
