Hi everyone,

I'm running Bitcoin-Qt v0.8.6rc1-beta (which I believe is identical to the latest).  In the lower right corner, there is a little icon that, at the moment, says "64 active connections to Bitcoin network".  The other day it said 43.  I've heard there are thousands of Bitcoin nodes, but the current number, 64, is the most I've ever seen connected.

Is that typical?  What number does yours show?

For comparison, I'm running MultiBit v0.5.14 on my other computer, when I hover over the "Online" box in the lower left corner, it shows "Connected to 4 peers".
Again -- is that typical?  What does yours show?

Thanks!

Mine shows 8 because i haven't opened that 8333 port. It seems that you are running a full node and everything is fine.

Mine varies between 40 and 70.  The number doesn't matter as much as the number of peer nodes downloading the blockchain from me.  My upload bandwidth (5 Mb/s) is maxed out 24/7.  I must just be lucky  Cheesy
