The Quantum Menace

With the develop of new technologies comes new and great applications, but comes too new fears, when the artificial intelligence was the subject of the moment everybody was afraid of the machines taking the control of the world, today the hype is about blockchain, but the shadow of the quantum computing rises, is a blurry and difficult to understand subject, but is a real thing, and is here. One can listen that the coming of Quantum computing will be the end of bitcoin, and everybody loses his mind thinking that the end is near, well to really be a risk for blockchain technologies quantum computing needs a lot of work and time, but it will be a menace.
How Quantum computing put blockchain in risk? This is not an easy answer, but from our knowledge we can said that the minery and the hash algoritms of the moment are quantum-proof but the way that the addresses are generated not, the actual signature method ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) will be easy solved using quantum computers, but out there are a lot of new algorithms that allows to validate signatures in a post-quantum enviroment.
