Hello all,

I'm a developer who registered primarily to post about this thread: index.php?topic=371601.0 although I'll likely stick around to comment on other threads.  I like the idea of a finite blockchain, and I think it would help lower barriers to adoption.  I also am interested in CPU-efficient hash functions.  If we could create hash functions for which off-the-shelf CPUs are the most cost effective miners, then I think the hash chain would be more secure.

Both of these goals aren't achieved by current altcoins (scrypt doesn't really do its intended job), but hopefully will be soon.

This is not a bad idea. It would definitely make mining more competitive than it is now.

However, there's a big difference between suggesting an ideal, and presenting the framework for how it may be implemented. If you can come up with the checks and balances necessary to make it happen, I'm sure a lot of people in the space (and many more outside of it) will find value in it.
