Setting up a new Bitcoin p2p exchange

As you are all aware most of the transaction charges for p2p bitcoin exchanges are reasonably high (1/2%)

How good would it be if we were able to create a website (like local bitcoins) where this can happen, all be it for a lower transaction fee.

What do you think?

Would this be possible?

Would it be sucessful?

Would it benefit the bitcoining community?
