Hello,

I followed the instructions in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200777.0 about the 7970. I have a ghz so I tried flashing my gpu bios with this bios http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/127156/gigabytehd7970-3072-120905.html.

The flashing went ok, but the cards still has the same hashrate (from 480 to 530 more or less). I noticed I cant actually change my gpu settings on cgminer (version 3.7.2, I'm mining with --scrypt). Trying to change the clock speed wont do anything. Also, changing clock speed through catalyst control center or msi afterburn will work for other programs, but not for cgminer. Has anyone ever had this problem? How did you solve it?

Thanks for the help.

Since my Gigabyte 280x is essentially a rebranded 7970, you could try out my config:

--gpu-engine 1049 --gpu-memclock 1500 --thread-concurrency 8192 --intensity 13 -w 256 -g 2 --auto-fan --temp-target 68

Before the gpu-engine and gpu-memclock tweaking, I wasn't able to get more than 530 KH/s either. I think the default 1100 khz core clock Gigabyte puts on it is too much.
