Ok So here it goes -

I decided to try something today, And swap my monitor to the secondary GPU in the last slot, I figured since the Primary GPU is up the top slot near the cpu, Ram, motherboard PSU cabling etcc... It gets hotter than the secondary GPU plus it has the monitor plugged into it, So I thought why not plug the monitor  into the secondary since this is the cooler card down the bottom and does not have much things around it.

GUESS WHAT, Reboot computer load up cgminer - and OMFG - GPU 0(Primary) 85KH Whilst Secondary is still as it was before 700-720KH

WTF man seriously why does everything just fk up for me... I did nothing else honestly , well other than rearrange the power cables but they all go in the same type of slots of the PSU and they are powered up. So  I dont get why the Primary GPU WITHOUT the monitor plugged into it goes 10 x slower than when it has the monitor plugged into it

Ya same shit happens to me. Mining is definitely an art and not for the technically inept.

I read about these dummy plugs that fool the video cards into thinking there is a monitor.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178241.0

There are also simple hacks with resistors. http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=11  <- this is what I did.

LOL gotta laugh  Roll Eyes

Anyways thanks bro that resistor trick looks good, hmm now to find a resistor in this house ? LOL I noticed someone said that a paperclip works.

Anyway I got it running ok now with my settings, although the monitor is still plugged into the main PCI. I am curious if you dont have display coming out of it does it actually help with the cooling VRM? If it doesnt then it really is not worth it ay

YOu should not need a dummy plug anymore. Mine run just fine without them. You may have issues with the setup then if its doing that.

I personally needed dummy plugs. Just get resistors from radio shack or something. I have 1/2 watt 100 ohm that work fine but Ive read others that use 1/4 watt. I also did mine right in the DVI output since a DVI>VGA adapter did not come with my GFX cards

I had a strange slow 7950 card once.  I switched it to a different slot without unplugging the two power plugs and it still remained slow in the new position.  I was going to RMA it since it was still available but after I unplugged and plugged back in the power cables it worked fine and has ever since..

do not change the settings which are fine and running , if you change it a lot of problems, then leave them as it is and keep mining.
