Hi, noob here, if there are Electrum people here I've got a question: I'm not getting how to create my watch-only wallet in my online comp (windows 7). If I just click to new/restore in the GUI it gives me messages that don't make sense, like that the file already exists. There is no command line possible in the windows version right now right (1.9.6 i'm using)? I'm afraid I'm going to mess up my current wallet in electrum, although I guess I could just restore it because I've got the seed. Mighty forces of internet intelligence, please intercede! Thanks already.

Sure I'll help you. Can you please explain what you are trying to achieve and I'll tell you how to go about it. I mean why do you want to create a watch only wallet?

So I have set up a wallet on my offline computer. I have the master public key on my online computer in a txt file via usb. I already have my default online wallet with coins in it. How can I create my watch-only wallet on the online computer from the master public key? Because the GUI seems to be not making sense as I said. Thanks much!

if you only want to watch how much coins are coming in or going out (and that is how i understand your question) you dont need electrum.
just watch the adress via https://blockchain.info

// i asume that the adress already exists, got funds on it and you just want to sit there and watch the flow...

DΛRKCOIN -> is now -> DΛSH
----------
not DashCoin, not DarkDash, not anything. The Name has been / is changed the tech stays the same

It's very simple. You were almost there but try it again:

- Run electrum
- Choose File -> Create/Restore
- In the file selection dialog box enter a new file name say xyz.watchonly and click on save
- Select restore wallet from master public key
- Enter the MPK and follow the rest of the steps.

When you want to open the watch only wallet use the file > open menu or create a shortcut with this target:

electrum -w c:\path\to\xyz.watchonly

I see now. I thought the first box needed me to select the file to restore based off of. Great! I see the "Open" function works fine too, so I don't really need to command line it at all. Thanks greatly for all help!
