Just bought two Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 cards. Was going to make dummy plugs by using a DVI-D to VGA connector and then make the dummy plugs. There is a big X over a VGA on the outlets of the cards. Will it damage the cards to make dummy plugs like this? Is there another way to do it? Thanks in advance.

You don't need dummy plugs.

No cards will if you adjust your power settings.
