This is my first post.
My interest is building a Software Development Environment in c for a miner on a laptop.

I currently have a PC at home:
Compiler:  I have run Visual Studio once and stepped into some code to validate the install.
PC: Windows 7 x64
ASICs: one each 2.2 Gh/s Blue Fury and a 330 Mh/s Block Erupter that are mining 24/7.
GPU:  The machine has an ATI 5450.

Drivers:  Last year, OpenGL always bombed.  Last time I tried to clean the system of ATI drivers, I lost my internet and had to use a restore point.  I am not confident that my CPU is talking to my GPU.  I may never have talked to this card even though it was installed and catalyst runs and reports HW and SW.  In theory I am using AMD SDK 2.9 and  Catalyst 13.9 and OpenGL 6.14.10 .  I have not mined successfully with a CPU or GPU.

Code:    I am still reading code to decide what I will muck with first.  I think that BFGminer will be my focus and other open sources will contribute.

That's my current status.  An ultimate goal is to monitor I/O traffic in a debug environment with a new machine.  Currently I cannot mine with my GPU on my old machine and am not monitoring traffic there.  So, while I spec my new machine, I will try to interface with the ASICs instead GPUs.  However this is not ideal since the ASICs are mining 24/7.  I would prefer to develop SW with slower mining assettes.

The Samsung computers:
NP700G7C-T02TH laptop uses an AMD Radeon HD7870G 2GB DDR5 card with 1 TB HDD while the
NP510R5E-S01TH laptop uses an AMD Radeon HD8750M 1 GB DDR3 card with 500 GB HDD.

I am building a SW development environment in ms visual c on a win 7 x64 PC to use on a laptop using win 8.1 pro x64.   Anybody ever develop mining code with Samsung machines on an AMD Radeon HD7870G or HD8750M?

What's the favorite programmer's editor these days?

Cheers.
