I use Electrum and restore it each time I run it.   Just copy the seed down in a safe place.

also heard things about the paper wallets.   I've always been too cautious to store much on LBC or blockchain as I've heard people losing funds.

Paper wallet, electrum and back that up to every storage devices you own. Yes even you mum's usb drive.
