I've been regularly watching the Bitcoin Show and I noticed that TradeHill is no longer advertised on that show - MtGox replaced them (outbid them perhaps?) . I'm just wondering what may be going on. Should we be worried? Has Tradehill had a falling out with the people behind that show?

I think they noted that they are trying to put all their resources to build a competitor to flexcoin.com ...  most likely included advertising as well.  As based on this press release:

"This was a tough call for us because it meant falling behind a bit on visible updates. We think that time will show that this was the right decision, and that you need good infrastructure to earn trust."

This text rather referred to them working on their backend security instead of upgrading visible features on their website (actually the only "real" upgrade I saw lately was that they removed "dead" currencies from the market data and removed a few questionable links from the FAQ page).

I noticed less refspamming here on the forums too though. Smiley

https://www.coinlend.org <-- automated lending at various exchanges.
https://www.bitfinex.com <-- Trade BTC for other currencies and vice versa.

Be careful, if you keep repeating press releases well start calling you a "journalist" (since that is all they do these days) Wink

We've finished a lot of backend updates that really aren't that exciting to the traders. Now we're going to start rolling out the changes that can be seen and used by the average user.

In regards to OnlyoneTV we're currently discussing future advertising. We're big fans of Bruce and his network and will continue to advertise with them. He's in Japan right now and should be working on something exciting. We might have to convince him to come down to Chile next.

That's just because we're deleting them before you see them.

Given the Thailand flap, and remembering the MtGox hack, I have to say that you guys have impeccable timing and/or great fortune.

The conference venue does not hold much interest to me.  I doubt if I personally would go if it were in my area since I am not into that sort of thing, but I have to say that I it *does* seem to me to be in poor taste and ironic given the goals of the recent charity drive brainstorm idea (which seems imho to have gone a bit off track.)

More importantly, I have a very negative taste about 'all the important people' escaping the '13 year olds' here on the forum and decamping for some cloistered set of private mailing lists.   For one, I don't see _that_ much problem here (though this is the first 'social' thing I've participated in since cutting my teeth in alt.politics a decade and a half ago.)  I see plenty of people with valuable contributions and ideas here still and the more immature of us are still good for a laugh from time to time.

I hope that Tradehill will continue to take a minimal interest in posting at least Tradehill related news on this old forum.

sig spam anywhere and self-moderated threads on the pol&soc board are for losers.

I'd discuss it some more if I were you... Think hard what you want your company to be associated with.

That post of mine is a few days old and was written before any of these allegations came to light (as far as I am aware).
Bruce has done a lot for the Bitcoin community but we will need to evaluate the situation. I haven't personally spoken with him recently.
We aren't scheduled to advertise on the show that aired last night and will consider all the facts as they become available.
My hope is that this is a big misunderstanding and it will be sorted out.
