That should work, I had a chat about this awhile ago on the forums, it may take some experimentation but I've been wanting to try this sort of thing, depending on what sort of stuff you have as long as you have electricity running through some place metal it should work. Get some crocodile clips and a standard power supply ( I don't think it even needs to be anything special ) and connect it up to the metal socket where you'd normally slot in the socket and it should work because all you need to do to power something is to just make the electricity flow smoothly through all the metal?
Again, it will probably take experimentation but if you've already got solar equipment you should be able to do it it just depends on how much you can get out of the solar equipment itself and for how long.
