how to get started? and how this works?

since no one is willing to explain it to you for a hours now let me have the honor!
so you need mining device to be able to mine bitcoins.
there is no good peace of equipment worth of buying right now. everything is low hashing power and overpriced. so only thing left to do for you is invest in some nice mining gear preorder.
most of the people here including me will suggest you to to go for 2TH prospero from black arrow $6.000 (March 2014 delivery) or 3TH KNC Neptune $10.000 (Q2 2014 delivery).
so just pick one you like and rest of it will be easy.
you'll need a bitcoin wallet on your pc installed so you can save your btc and also open account on mtgox or bitstamp so you can sell them.

Thank you so much for your reply. unfortunately my foundation doesn't have such an amount to afford this. So no mining for us there then. We spend the money to the children.
