As I was travelling through France last week I ran across this video clip (scroll down to #3 to see clip). It is in French and interviews several assemblymen. Interestingly, there is a diversity of opinion from the usual FUD to some fairly deep observations about how technology and the internet have weakened the traditional nation state. One guy says the internet is now more "solid and real" than "our world."

"Monopoly money" gets thrown around quite a bit by the less informed Frenchies but several view it as an interesting phenomenon.  One mentions it is an interesting alternative that can't be manipulated by central banks.

On the whole, alas, from the ill-informed French politicians to the ones who wax philosophical, they seem quite a bit sharper than our politicians, and, unlike most Republicans and Democrats, clearly capable of coherent thought Smiley .

But, from some talks with the natives, the general public in the US does appear more receptive to rapid economic change than the average Frenchman.

The banks would never allow this nor would any functional economy because as far as they're concerned their system works.
