I first heard about bitcoins around January last year but did nothing about them. The next time it hit my radar was back in April when they exceeded US$100 each for the first time. Nearly took the leap then and bought 50 of the things, but unfortunately buying them is insanely difficult.

I signed up with Mt. GOX - no reply after a week. I looked for a UK exchange - found nothing. Didn't know about localbitcoins. And then I just gave up.

Next thing I know they've hit US$1000 each. Over a few beers a friend tells me he bought 3 during the previous bubble at £80 each using localbitcoins. So that's where I went, and stupidly bought at about £700 each just over the other side of the peak when it was climbing again.

Then China hit. If I'd waited 2 weeks, I'd have bought up twice as many. Have checked the bitcoin news nearly daily since and am very taken by it.

So, just waiting to see what happens. I doubt it'll completely crash, but also I don't expect US$10,000 each like some people. It's just something I want to be part of and follow the excitement. Gambler's mentality maybe, but so far so good. I've even stuck a bit into some companies on Havelock.

I ended up getting into Bitcoin around the November 2013 after hearing about this crazy guy Nowaka making a ton of money from Bitcoin on Just-Dice. Unfortunately my luck is nowhere near what his was heh, but I've been having fun with Bitcoin and Dogecoin every since. It's been fun watching things go up and down crazy amounts in the space of a day (or hours as the case may be). Unfortunately I have an Nvidia card so mining is pretty much out for me, plus looking at some of the numbers that people put out...why bother putting my measly small khs out there...

5. I am a huge proponent behind the idea of crypto currency because I believe it stands for the people rather than the big banks who manipulate the world.

Me too! I lived in Thailand for a couple years. I love Koh Phangan.  I haven't made it to Bali yet, it's on the list. I made it up to Lake Toba in Sumatra, that was a cool trip..

Grateful to be paying for my travels with trading  Cheesy

I first took an interest in bitcoin in July 2012, but foolishly did not invest. I was interested in the economics of a totally decentralized currency and thought that it was the coolest thing yet to pop up out of the IT generation.

I purchased by first bitcoin in October for a few hundred USD and have been trading in cryptos ever since! Iv had varying degrees of success with my trades and overall it has been a fantastic experience so far!

I have never mined but am planning on giving it a try in the future.

I'm an average guy living in Australia, with a whole bunch of people around me who have barely even heard of bitcoin. Interest in Australia is consistently on the rise, but only a fraction of the population are actively involved... lots of room to grow here.

1. October 2013
2. I don't mine currently but have been looking at mining bitcoin and other coins and may try to mine soon.
3. I first heard of bitcoin about 2 years ago but never looked into it at the time Sad
I then saw a couple of stories on the news about 3 months ago and decided to search online to learn more about it. I've since been reading about bitcoin and other coins almost every day since.
4. I'm interested in making money with bitcoin but I'm also interested in the technology involved. I also play online poker and finding sites using bitcoin is a big bonus for me.
