1 million I would put that into hardware and software development.  I'm sure with the right team and space mining around a TeraHash /sec could be possible even paying retail prices. With wholesale pricing or putting the cash into hardware you could probably afford development of an asic or just repackaging of an asic to sell. 
Money isn't in the coins its in selling infrastructure or mining contracts if people actually buy those.
