Hello, Just configured up two 7950's on CGMiner in Win7 x64 - running good at 546 KH/s on each card mining LTC. Using MSI Afterburner to OC because CGMiner OC wasn't reliable 1000 Core Engine & 1450 Memory Clock Settings on CGMiner: --intensity 20,20 --worksize 256,256 -g 1 -v 1 --lookup-gap 2,2 --thread-concurrency 21712,21712 For the first 5-10 seconds, the GPU runs at 100% utilization - and I see the hashing at around 560 KH/s - 600 KH/s. I'd like to see it stay there. But for some reason, after those first 10 seconds, the GPU usage jumps between 100% and 64% every second (image below) - and then the hashing locks in at 546 KH/s. The core & clock also jump as you can see in the image. Any ideas why it might be happening?

Good question. I'll check.

Yep it does it at stock too. I lowered the intensity to 13 (drops to 270 KH/s) to see if that changed anything, and it didn't. It still spiked - just at a slower rate. I mean hey, if I can still hit almost 550 KH/s I'm happy. I'd love to get the 600-650 KH/s I've seen/heard other members hitting with the 7950, but I'm not sure what else to tweak at this point. I could try pushing the OC a bit more and see if that helps.

Try disabling ULPS in MSI Afterburner.

Try disabling ULPS in MSI Afterburner.
Trying to figure out where that is... not locating it. Googling it doesn't seem to help, mentions editing the registry to turn it off - which I'm fine with doing --- I was just assuming there was a setting in Afterburner to turn it off. Help?

I don't think Trixx has a usage meter like Afterburner does though... hmm. Still puzzled.

That was it!!!!!! It was down the post a bit about pushing the "Power Limit %" up to 20. I did that on Afterburner, and voila - it's rocking 99% solid on both GPU's! No more jumping around. And the hashes are up Awesome! thanks c1010010! Only problem now is the cards are running way hot. From 75C up to 90C+ - yikes! I'll have to play with this power limit and see what I can do.

At what fanspeed is it running? My cards are running @50-65% fanspeed.

At what fanspeed is it running? My cards are running @50-65% fanspeed. It's running the fans at 100% when it gets that hot. But that's because of the location the rig is in. Not very good location to be "cool". The cards are Sapphire's, so that also might be why. I know the Gigabyte cards have 3 fans on them instead of the 2 that sapphire has.

I can't say definitively, I just know the Gigabyte version has 3 fans which is a real bonus for cooling. Maybe someone else with experience with both could chime in. The Sapphire's are really solid, having no issues with them at all other than cooling at high loads. They overclock easy (with Afterburner), and are very stable.
