I believe that you need to be active on the site and contribute posts to boost your member status. I haven't got any exact figures but it is something along those lines.

I give it an 8 out of 10 stars. I liked the effects and the pacing was tight, but I didn't care too much for the native American, tree of life, hippy dippy stuff.

I dont think it is possible to add your avatar now, I cant add it as well.

Yes, that is why they have disable this feature. You can see some users got avatar, that is because they uploaded it before the hacking took placed.

since the hack attack (I think) no one on the forum can't set up an avatar 
users who already have it are happy and we on the other hand are doomed
