Hello all,

I am a noob here on these forums and was wondering what some of the opinions on Dogecoin were? I know it started off largely as a joke, but it seems to have taken on a life of its own. While I don't think it will ever reach the same level as Bitcoin I think it has some very interesting applications. Such as tipping for small amounts of currency and other small purchases. Additionally, it is a great way for people who are intimidated or missed the accessible Bitcoin mining phase to get involved in Cyptocurrency.

I'm interested to see what some of the other forum contributors think as well.

Cheers,

Poly

I would place it next to planking, gangnam style, Chuck Norris facts, Diet Coke and Mentos, LOLcat, and Angry Birds.

As a miner and trader of Dogecoin,I can tell you that this currency's only real value is the novelty of the DOGE meme.Once that wears off,all the value that is left of these coins will simply plummet and people will move onto something else.

Right now the difficulty is fairly low compared to other coins so you can mine a lot of them (with GPUs) and profit (for now) but I don't recommend holding onto them (as the value seems to keep changing from 0.00000052 BTC to 0.00000048BTC) so don't put all your hopes into this coin, just mine it if it's profitable for you, then ditch them and move on (like I'm planning to do).

Hope this helps Smiley

all of them were/are very successful??!??...

I like the idea of Chuck norris coins.  or chucks.  Coinye made a mistake, they took the wrong person to link their business too.
Chuckies would def. take over bitcoins, everybody knows that.

Chuck norris threw 2 grenades and killed 20 people....then the grenades exploded.

AIDS was very successful too. Very catchy and spreads easily.

Those things are only successful because of idiots. Hur der durr 2 da moon. Hilarious. The kids need a toy to play with I guess though.

DOGE is a great coin for the cryptocommunity. It truly brought a lot of new users and has made many users stay in the community.

That said, its an atrocious investment. So many coins are constantly being created that miners have to dump to support themselves. Market cap may stay steady, but an individuals investment (in per coin terms) is going to hurt.

When looking for cryptos, I look for a large community (with a few coders) and little mining because I know this helps stabilize the price and gives the coin potential for actually being used as money.

I'm noob too. That said, I think DogeCoins kind of could be what BitCoins should have been. A social thing for internet stuffs. Tokens to show appreciation and stuff. Lots of stuff anyway.
