The current version of Peercoin's wallet was released 11 months ago and does not incorporate the re-branding that many worked so hard on. According to Sunny King, the next version of the wallet will be released "in a couple of weeks." He has been say that at least since September. On the bright side, I suppose, 0.3.1 might be released soon to fix the "locked wallet bug," months after it was reported. Based on what is in github, 0.3.1 will not use the new branding, it's just a 2-3 line change from 0.3.

In recent months Sunny has largely stopped engaging with the Peercoin community. He hardly ever posts to Bitcointalk or Peercointalk anymore. His weekly updates have been reduced to 1-3 bullet points with little real substance. At least he still does them.

I have tremendous personal respect for Sunny and I know he is concerned for his safety, but things can not keep on going like this. For Peercoin to grow and reach its full potential, we need a public spokesperson who is willing to appear on camera and who is willing to do an interview on Skype instead of hiding behind a pseudonym and doing "interviews" using Peercointalk's chatbox. We need a foundation to guide and foster the continued growth of the coin. I know Sunny has said he doesn't want a foundation because he is afraid it will draw undue attention, but a lot has changed as far as the acceptance of cryptocurrencies in the past few months. It's time for Peercoin to grow up. Dogecoin and even Quark coins have managed to create foundations at this point. We desperately need an open development process with several active developers who understand Peercoin's inner workings and who are willing to explain and defend their design choices. While the Peercoin community has done some amazing work, on our dime, I feel like Peercoin is stagnating.

Try the following thought experiment: If Sunny were to disappear tomorrow, what would happen to Peercoin? Is there anyone, any organization who could take over leadership and continue development? I am increasingly concerned that the answer is "no."

What can we as a community do to help Peercoin get out of this rut without offending or alienating Sunny King -- this is after all his coin based on his design and he has been incredibly generous to share both those things with us.

don't be afraid. coins are decentrilized, it means they are not depending in a single person or a unique team.
