I've been around these forums for awhile and just realized I haven't seen hide-nor-hair of Atlas or kiba, two big posters, for some time.
In fact it appears that Atlas has no posts since April. That can't be possible. And all my private messages from him have disappeared as well.
And kiba, never short of words, hasn't even logged on in September?
Maybe they've all cashed out and moved to that libertarian seasteading project we've been hearing about.

Maybe they've all cashed out and moved to that libertarian seasteading project we've been hearing about. Most of the old members are gone with the big increase of trolls in the forums.

The sane and level-headed ideas of Atlas will be missed. His dedication and follow-through were an inspiration to the Bitcoin community.

Hopefully keep an eye out on http://bitcoinweekly.com/ for any updates to at least know Kiba is alive. Also they could possibly have joined other communities https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=41760.msg508857#msg508857I am still not sure if it was the trolls that fucked this board over or the devs that gave up on it, I kind of see it as they worked together to help ensure trust forever is fucked in the Bitcoin (lack of) community lol. The sane and level-headed ideas of Atlas will be missed. His dedication and follow-through were an inspiration to the Bitcoin community. Agreed. He was quite a motivator and wished when I had the time I could have worked with him on one of the many ideas.

I am still not sure if it was the trolls that fucked this board over or the devs that gave up on it, I kind of see it as they worked together to help ensure trust forever is fucked in the Bitcoin (lack of) community lol. Probably both. The developers got so high on the initial success of Bitcoin that forgot that the community of non-programmers was important to keep pushing Bitcoin forward. I am unaware if they tried to convince Theymos to change the policy of the forum, so we might be being unfair with them. The lack of Bitcoin community is an important issue that I dont see being talked around. Before the trolls started fukcing the forum, people had a place to meet and discuss things rationally. Any newcommer could ask questions and get a feel of what Bitcoin was and decide to invest or not. Not anymore.

Yeah, but he's cut way back. His anti-SA thread is pretty much the only thing he's done in like 2 weeks. I miss the old days of last month or so when he'd wander on over the political forum, hit New Topic, and drop a sweet paragraph of bootstraps wisdom on the people that he never returned to defend.

No, his ideas were the idiotic rantings of a petulant child.

I think you are looking at the past through rose-covered glasses: I wouldn't say it was rational discussion all the time before; in fact - it was probably the less-than-rational posters (e.g., Atlas) that attracted the trolls in the first place. But I'm just guessing
