Thank you everyone for the comments I learned a lot by reading it especially to the one who gives advice, I understand now the importance of merit system, but about the job like LoyceV said that it is "spamming" sorry but I can't stop my job now for participating in bounty because I can't find a decent job here in the Philippines I did not graduate in college and come from a poor family in 3rd world county finding job is a problem here, I hope you understand sir, I respect your opinion because you're an old member here, when the time comes that this forum will ban ICO or Bounty related post that can cause spam because of reporting every week that will the time for me to find another job.

Ok, so you have this "job" that is better than any opportunity you can get IRL. What exactly do you need merits for?

Maybe you're trying to hard to get merit? You're whole goal for being on this forum should not be to get merit and rank up so you can earn more money.
Hear, hear.  And OP has earned 1 merit already, so what's the problem?  I've seen many, many users who have yet to earn even their first one.  As I have said innumerable times, earning them is NOT supposed to be easy.  More posts are going to go unmerited than merited, and that's not going to change unless Theymos decides to have hundreds of merit sources and standards start to loosen up a bit, and I hope that doesn't happen.

OP can still post helpful threads as a Member, so unless his purpose is really to get merit-->rank up-->increase income, he isn't limited at all by his current rank.  There are no posting restrictions or anything I can think of except for the amount of signature space he can rent out.

So what really is your purpose on bitcointalk, OP?

Bounty hunters are a bit frowned upon and less likely to get merit..

But.. Their is a shit ton of merit wasted on legendary accounts..
Just look in this thread at how much..

Yeah you guys make great posts all the time and are worthy of "merit".. I'm not arguing that at all..

But you sources, come one.. You can do a better job of distributing merit to where it's needed than that..
Like your trying to pad your sent merit count, get to the top of that generosity list..

Hard to find posters worthy of merit that need merit? Yeah I feel ya..
Maybe you should give posters that need merit more.. Like 3 instead of 1, or 5 instead of 2..

Before I give my smerits out I usually even check post histories and try to give it to posters that it will actually make a difference to..

It would be so easy to have just dumped my smerits on legendaries, piece of cake, but I put more effort in to my merits sent than that..

If I see a good post followed by a request to merit it, I will simple move on. One should understand that you post speaks for itself. The reader is not some fool who will give you merits because you are asking for it.

Most of the merits are now coming from sources who are experienced in managing forums and have seen it all .

It's wasted in the sense that it can't be used to rank up, but it's not wasted in the sense that Merit is also meant to highlight good posts:
I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

Hard to find posters worthy of merit that need merit? Yeah I feel ya..
Maybe you should give posters that need merit more.. Like 3 instead of 1, or 5 instead of 2..
So far, my average is very close to 1 merit per post. I prefer to merit more different posts than giving more to one post.

I do that sometimes, but even if most of his posts are bad, receiving merit on a good post good be an incentive to improve.

Then again, maybe you're not talking to me Tongue

Legendaries can send their earned sMerit too it's not like it's completely wasted and if a new rank comes out which there's been discussion of then it won't be wasted.

A great post is a great post ranked shouldn't really play a part in giving out sMerits.

I don't know why or how to get merit or maybe people don't really mind about merit system or this reason below Cheesy

read many guides and tips how to get merit but did not work, I even created a good thread about guides how to find a good bounty to participate in but still no luck even a single merit but nothing many people in that section don't care, I created that guide to help bounty hunters find a good bounty we all know that bounty requires hard work you need to report every week working for almost 3-5 months just to receive token for a couple of $$$ but it still helps a lot to survie, I know that some bounty hunters are not get paid after months of work becuase the ICO did not reach the soft cap? so that inspires me to create that thread to avoid that from happening I'm not good at speaking English so yeah just sharing my experience, by the way here is my thread I'm talking about https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4072720.msg38014805#msg38014805

You are with 1+ merit by seeing your rank and merits now. You may that already how the merits are gettable this time. If you make the good post over the forum to needed thread that will be helpful to anyone. So you will find the someone here and like the posts.
As like that if your posts has been crossed the merits givers you may get rewared else you need to for it. Still you think you giving good quality answer to this forum you could get meriting services in the services section bro.

Another problem: since the introduction of the merit, thousands of members have written thousands of pages exclusively on the subject...

Isn't that -ironically- a form of spam?

This time and energy should be spent on better projects.

Yes but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The complaints about the merit system are restricted to the meta board and will soon die off once everyone is familiar with the merit system.

It's not really spam when a feature is being discussed either. It's only spam if it's being repeated over and over and no new points are being made which is the case with some of the threads.

Not really. Many threads about the merit system, including complaints, appear in beginners and help. It should be renamed begging and help Cheesy

But it's being repeated over and over. If you take the essence of every thread about merit you'll see that 90% of them concentrate on one of the 3 things.
1. Merit is shit, I don't like it, thanks to it new people are discriminated.
2. How can I get merit? Why you guys are hoarding it? My posts are good and still no merit!
3. Merit is being abused, I want to report an abuser.

Nailed it.

No,No I've noticed that all of them know that the merit is being abused and that it's being traded and whatnot, but none of them know who it is or anything. Grin

Also, everyone who has got some merit has an alt, therefore meriting themselves. Grin
