At the beginning of the year, I bought a gaming PC on Craigslist for the purpose of mining. It had a Radeon 6850 in it. I did fairly well with it for a couple months; it became out-dated rather quickly & I pretty much toasted it with all the scrypt mining I had been doing. I just installed a Radeon R9 270x & am planning to toss another one in there next payday. Unfortunately, I can only fit two graphics cards in this thing, so I'll have to set up a secondary rig as I slowly upgrade. Maybe a milkcrate rig with 5 or so. In the meantime.... with this one card I'll get a steady hash rate of around 550 kh for around an hour or so, then it drops to around to 375-400 kh. I confess, I'm a bit of a noob (I hate that word), but I suspect that the power supply may not be up to par. It seems that it heats up rather quickly, while the GPU stays nice & cool.
