At around the 90c~ mark, the fan on my 5870 will do quick bursts to get to around 50% speed. Before then, it was running at around 40%. Regardless of percentage, it does this, will do quick bursts raising the speed up another 10% for half a sec increments, over and over, until temps go below 90c again.

Any idea why this might be happening?

Thanks!

Bump, this is happening at 50c as well. Pretty much it thinks it needs more fan, but only does it in bursts. So weird.

You should get MSI afterburner and turn the fan up manually to 100%, AMD cards arent recommended to be run any hotter than 85c for long periods of time.

I have done exactly that Smiley

However I am really perplexed to why this fan is going nuts like it is.
