500 seems high to me. Did you compare your config to other 7870's on the hardware list? Only one guy posted there above 425kh/s.

I have a 7870 LE hashing at 510 Kh/s, 2 R9-270's @ 470 Kh/s and a shitty defective 7870 that can't go above 400.

Hashing speed depends on memory latency, as suspected by some and proven by TheStilt, a member of litecointalk forum and top overclocker/tweaker.

7870 maxes out at 400-450khs.  You will not see 500khs on a 7870.  400khs is actually not a terrible result, i've seen far worse.

7870XT (7950 LE) will do 500khs with some tweaking.

7850 / 7870 / 7870XT all share the same 256bit memory interface with roughly similiar memory clock speeds.  This is why the 7850 is so close to the 7870 / 7870XT.

Extra shaders come into play as you go up the line (7870XT has 1536), but the extra shaders have extremely dimished returns as bandwidth / latency / memory amount available are more important than compute past a certain point.

the 7870 has 1280, 7850 has 1024, makes no sense my 7850 is getting more than both my 7870's. Getting 400-405 on the 7850 and 390's on the 7870. I know what I wont be buying anymore..

Shaders don't mean crap once the bandwidth outruns them.  Both the 7850 and 7870 have roughly the same amount of bandwidth.  Your result is not unexpected.
