Projects move in and out of the top 100 on CMC but it is a known fact that less than 50% of them actually having products that work right now.
I compiled a list of the best working projects in blockchain as of now, October 2018, and also for fun, created a character compiling all the logos from these top 5 projects.

Steem is trash. The entire website is ran for the profit of a handful of big players and their bot networks. They upvote themselves and completely manipulate what shows up to other users. Exposure of your article has nothing to do with how good it is, and everything to do with how many votes you will buy. The entire thing is trash, which is probably why Dan Larimer took his profits and abandoned it.

Also, you never mentioned Bitcoin, which is obviously the number 1 project.

I didn't know the cryptos mentioned in the article, apart from Steem and Ether, were backed by working projects. So thanks for the info. For example I had no clue basic attention project BAT was actually related to a browser. I only knew it was being traded on Binance. They say about 3M people use this browser on their desktops and smartphones. I might install it just to try and see how good it is.

Good
At least we can positively boast of blockchain making impact. the only problem keft id how to detach market sentiments from blockchain application and I'm optimistic we'll see a great deal of impact from blockchain technology.

Just ETH, STEEM and Bancor i know on that list. But it's good to know the projects that are not just mere ideas, but have products to show for it.
