I have a quadcore from 2009 that mines 1 XPM every 2.5 days.  It isn't much, but the computer still has enough power to be used for using the internet.  My more powerful machines mine much faster, but I don't use those as my desktop.

XPM is pretty bad right now ... is there nothing better in terms of CPU mining profitability?

I have to change my mind, there is a new kid on the block.

Maxcoin <- No GPU or ASIC will be able to mine this. So the value should be precise.

It's no where near .1 BTC a week if you're using a single cpu.  The only reason to mine on a single computer would be to hold a few XPM long term and hope they go way up in price.  I have a few servers at my house, so I can get a few a week, but it's nothing that is going to pay the bills.

GPUs are already mining it.  There was a cuda miner for it before it was even launched.  The coin failed
