I checked the AppStore and can confirm that the Blockchain.info web wallet is gone for me too.

Sounds like they're close to releasing a mobile wallet using HTML 5.  I'm not a web developer, but poking around just now it seems that HTML5 permits webcam access (for QR code scanning).

I recently submitted a Bitcoin themed iOS app to Apple and their only concern before approving it was if Bitcoins could be withdraw from the website the app supported.  Perhaps they are concerned they will be tied to money transmitting if you can use their app to directly move Bitcoin from point A to point B.

It isn't a concern for anyone else, why would it be a concern for Apple? Besides, the web browser on the phone allows people to do exactly the same thing.

Apparently this applied when Apple was the one challenging the status quo and starting a movement to change the world, but now that they are the status quo...the focus has shifted to protection of the empire by attempting to maintaining control, power and market share.  Patents and protection of established paradigms often hinder progress and stifle new ideas.  People, organizations and even entire countries are choosing sides...but ultimately, no manner of control mechanisms, legislation, media influence or political intervention will determine the fate of these technologies.  The value, utility and ultimate success of EC cryptography, the blockchain and decentralized autonomous systems will be determined by their potential applications, usefulness, quality and open source market demands.

I'm so glad I still have the blockchain app, although I guess it's useless if nobody else can have it. Poor move.

Maybe they will still have it or have a jailbroken or different phone. Hopefully people will gradually transition away from Apple now anyway.

Not everybody uses iphones, and you can still use blockchain on the browser.
