PCIE x1 to PCIE x16 USB extender help

Hi folks,

I have an old p5k board (p35 chipset) and I am considering buying one of these guys to add another gpu. The problem is that I read about the need to short certain pins on the x1 slot because of the outdated mobo. Can you tell me exactly how to do that with these extenders? Also I will be plugging it x1 to x1.
