Other than Cryptocurrencies, we can mine metals, coal, gemstones, limestone, chalk, dimension stone, potash, gravel, etc.  Grin

Your question isn't specific enough. If you were asking here, of course, the mining itself only for Cryptocurrencies. Am I misunderstand your question?  Huh

I think he means can you mine all types of coins with a GPU or ASIC ? Unfortunately there are many coins which you can't mine.

Coins like XPR are not mineable and there are other POS coins out there.

You can also do Folding instead of Mining for SETI@Home but you don't get paid to do that. Its more geared towards research.

In general when mining becomes unprofitable people just sell the GPUs and CPUs to gamers. ASICS are usually sold to people with cheaper electricity, until the cycles repeat themselves over and over again.

Yeah maybe
But I'm not sure that was what OP's mean, it's a bit hard to be interpreted.

OP, may you need to explain! Give a more specific question so that we can give you more specific answer, that's how discussions work.

There's hundreds of other proof methods of generating blocks out there in major cryptocurrencies besides the common Proof of Work and Proof of Stake methods- for example, NEM utilizes Proof of Importance, and Bitshares utilizes Delegated Proof of Stake. There's even subcategories in PoS like Peercoin using Coin Age Selection. If you're looking for more information on these methods of proofing, this Steemit article should get you started.
