So you bought a mining rig.   You're all pimped out at 3 G/hash but still have that itch for more but buying another rig is not an option.

Introducing.... Proof of Stake! https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_Stake

Proof of Stake allows you to create coins within your wallet, without having to use any of your hash power.  Simply open your wallet a few times a week and BOOM!   Extra coins at your disposal.

Couple POS coins for those unaware:

Peercoin - $4.41 USD/PPC
Novacoin - $7.28 USD/NVC

These coins are established and have been available for quite some time.  Want to get on the POS train early??

MINTcoin
Hobonickels
GalaxyCoin

and more can be found here in StakeHunter's thread:

Enjoy!

Can you, in laymen's terms, explain this to me a little more?

Think of it as interests at your bank.

With Mint, every 20 days the network automatically increases your wallet by 20% of the coins you haven't done any transfers with. So as long as your wallet isn't encrypted, you can just open it up every so often and see profit. It's PoW right now, but then switches to PoS after 5 weeks.

It's far more Green/efficient, PoS can secure the network without need for the consistant PoW. Don't ask me on the technical details though.  Grin

Check out this site for legit free BTC. It's like an hourly free lottery ticket that always pays out at least 300 satoshi, and could net you over .3 BTC if you're really lucky. Just gotta fill out a captcha each time. (basically a faucet with chance of real reward)
