Hi all! Before I get started, I am rather new to this forum and am more than willing to verify my identity to an admin. This is in no way a scam, it's a way for me to help raise funds for the following situation:

My friend Melissa and I have been close since grade school. She had her first child a few weeks ago. Herself and her family mean the world to me. At the same time, her wonderful Mother found out that she has breast cancer and that it has already spread. She has numerous surgeries coming up, as well as radiation treatment. She did not have health insurance through her employer, but was able to receive emergency Medicaid. However, this does not cover everything, and she will be out of work for months.

This is my attempt to raise funds to make her life a little easier through this difficult time.

RAFFLE/FUNDRAISER

1 Ticket = 0.1BTC
5 Tickets = 0.4BTC

Goal: 100 Tickets

Raffle Address to send BTC to: 1LyUijGpcQyxTqoS4YMr8xenn7YeCWYtAN

Tickets may be purchased now until March 7th 2014

One Winner will be randomly selected via a random number generator shortly after the raffle ends.

If we reach 8+ BTC in tickets, the winner will receive 2BTC!!
If we reach <8 BTC, the winner will receive 20% of the total raised!!

50/50 RAFFLE! I realized the above is a little silly. I'm making this a simple 50/50 raffle  Smiley

Thank you so much for reading this, and good luck to those who contribute!!

A raffle for 20% or less of the prize pool is pretty worthless as a raffle.  Why don't you just post her name and what hospital she's at and we can donate directly?

If say 4 BTC worth were contributed, the odds of winning the price of .8 BTC are 1 in 40. I see those are pretty good odds of turning .1 into .8! And more importantly if it reaches 8 BTC, the odds of winning 2 BTC would be 1 in 80.

Regarding donating directly, I'd like to keep some privacy for her. We are holding a local fundraiser at a bowling alley, but that's much different than posting personal info on the internet.

You know, you're right. It's been changed to a 50/50 raffle.

No, that's very shitty odds.  You can go to any dice game and bet .1BTC @ 11% odds to win .8BTC.  You are offering the same payout but at 2.5% odds.  That's horrible.

Asking for donations for a private cause is extremely shady.  If it was a legitimate cause, you would have no problem giving information as to where the money is going.

Even if I gave her name, how would anyone be able to find out? That's why I'm more than happy to provide any and all information to a mod to verify. I just don't personally feel comfortable giving out personal information of a friend. But going through a mod, I feel that would be fair.
