I see CMC is adding coins with 1 USD volume like Rentledger or with not-working main pages etc.

We (https://webchain.network) try to get listed there for months, we have over 2000 followers on discord, not so big volume as it is around 1000 usd and lately it went down but is in hundreds, but it's not token - it's full blockchain, not just a fork, with whitepaper, big team (30+) behind it and sucessful projects promoting it

Yet, we are getting complete silence from them or they simply say "your project doesn't meet our expectations". I was thinking that maybe CMC listing is based on unofficial payment fees? If so, how much it could cost?

If not, why are they adding completely unknown projects but ignore the ones with higher volume/followers? Looks extremely obscure to me.

I think you're outdated because CMC had removed the volume requirement. I'm not sure about the fee and you should be contacting the right person to avoid misleaded.

I saw this and we applied way after this date many times. The problem is, that they still, even after this update, keep their rules hidden and obscure and it's bad for the whole community.

Currently their requirements are based on magic, unknown 1 USD coins get accepted and much biggers ones are not. It makes absolutely no sense and looks suspicious to say the least.

They have their criteria, check if you have all met:

What is the criteria for a cryptocurrency to be listed on CoinMarketCap?

The criteria for a cryptocurrency to be listed is the following:

- Must be a cryptocurrency or a crypto token.
- Must be on a public exchange with an API that reports the last traded price and the last 24 hour trading volume.
- Must have a non-zero trading volume on at least one supported exchange so a price can be determined.
- For market cap ranking, an accurate circulating supply figure is required.

If you'd like to have a cryptocurrency listed and it meets all of the criteria, please fill out the request form.
Why aren't you listing [insert random cryptocurrency]?

While we strive to add every single cryptocurrency in the universe, it's virtually impossible to list everything. Listing cryptocurrencies is largely a manual process that takes time and resources to ensure the accuracy of our data. We use certain criteria, including but not limited to, available liquidity, size of project, and information transparency to prioritize listings.

If yes, then your coin is eligible to be listed. Don't conclude yet, we can't be sure if they really ignore your request or they just haven't checked it yet. While on the other hand, they have the right to list or not any of the requested currencies.

if this is true I begin to doubt the performance of the CMC, so far I have relied on it to analyze various types of coins and tokens.
actually I've heard of several other cheats from CMC, but I still ignore it. I'm still waiting for some more evidence.

They have their criteria, check if you have all met:

we met all criteria and once (in the past) they responded with "your coin  doesn't meet our criteria". when we asked which ones exactly? there was total silence, and they were back to ignoring mode.

It's pretty much unthinkable in normal financial world to have such "rules". CMC decides who to list and who not and they use their total lack of transparency to their advantage

As long as community will allow them to do that, whole crypto world will be just a shadow of normal finanncial market, so the sooner community wakes up and notice CMC shenanigans, the better.

I just ask for clear rules, nothing more. So that every project gets fair chance. I don't like that uncle of CMC owner or unknown person who paid 10 BTC to CMC owner private wallet can get their 1 usd volume shitcoin (that doesn't even have project website) listed, while others are simply denied without any explanations.

there are hundreds of altcoins and tokens that are breaking at least one and some of them multiple one of these criterias and are still listed on coinmarketcap.com.

for example you can go to https://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/ to see 1910 listed coins there. from these coins 419 of them do not have a known circulating supply and because of that they don't have a market cap so they are not "ranked"...

as for volume, 17 coins have unknown volume. 39 coins with 0 volume and 110 coins with less than $100 volume in past 24 hours!

I got your point there, and I agree with that. They should have been more specific on what criteria your coin doesn't meet.

Well, we can't do anything about that. As I have said, they have the right to list or not to list any of the requested currencies (or it would be better to say ONLY CM have the power|capability to do so because it's their site).

Their site is being used as official index for all coins and if they want to be treated seriously, they should at least specify rules that coins have to meet to be listed there. Same for exchanges and fake volume...

Now they could use their status for insider trading, buying tokens just before listing and selling them after listing.

While I understand it's their right to do that, it's also right of community to demand more transparency or we should simply encourage more people to switch to other sites.

Ignoring the problem will backfire one day.

yeah but it is good to know that they have broken their own rules for adding (or at least keeping coins listed) on their website.
as i always say coinmarketcap is not a good place to rank coins. it is only good if you want to find links and general information and now we can see that it is not even the complete list.

LOL. have you tried asking the creator of that topic what he did to be listed. maybe he can give you some insight.

I tried, but he logs in so rarely that I'm not sure if he will respond. Still waiting for response.
