OP, your tips doesn't works because you haven't earned any Merits so far :/
The knowledge seeker pay much attention to the message rather than the messenger.
I know people who never made it life but share their experience with others. If you smart, you would learn from what prevented them from being successful and work on that. And that fact that I don't have merit doesn't mean it isn't useful, it goes beyond this forum. You could use for equally relevant stuffs. Just look at things from a wider wider context.

That's why OP didn't receive merit yet. I can't find anything new and useful on your post. You should call people if you success. You still can't earn a single merit but you are posting how can earn merit. For me grammar and English is not enough to earn merit. Even your English is weak and you have an useful post than there is chance to earn merit. Of course you should learn English with grammar. For me if you can explain nicely theme of your post & post is useful than it's deserve merit from me. Appriceate them who motivate for good English. Since my English is not good  Cry , but I am still trying to learn from seniors.

OP, do you think English is the only problem for not receiving enough merits? Wrong, even if a post is written in broken English but has good content, it will get the merits it deserves. Adding Grammarly to chrome is not a bad option but it doesn't enhance or promote quality content. A post could be written in perfect error-free English but if it lacks the original content, it's worthless. Many people live in a wrong intuition that they don't get enough merits just because of their English sucks. Truth is, they barely post quality content.

Agreed with you. I registered here yesterday. Reading and learning about the forum.
English is not the only thing which can help people to get merit.
For example, there is someone named "cryptocoolvator" who got more than 100 merits.
I have read some of his/her posts. It is true that he/she is better in English than most of the users here but as not as you required here for receiving merits.
Moral of the story- Quality is the only tactic for receiving merit in your post.

That's why OP didn't receive merit yet. I can't find anything new and useful on your post. You should call people if you success. What a coincidence! I mentioned him/her and after posting I saw one post from that guy too.

There are so many initiatives here to help members, that posting a tired old link to an American grammar site is no longer revolutionary. All it does is to show that you aren't reading the threads here.

That should tell you the topic of good or quality content is subjective. If you read and understood my post well, you would realize there wasn't a line or statement that affirmed good English will surely earn you merit, it's just a facilitator.
it true I don't have merits, but that doesn't prevent me from sharing something regarding a topic. What's the essence of literature review then?
One thing you should have in mind is, good content is a non-factual issue, it varies from individuals. That fact that it isn't useful to you doesn't mean it the same for everyone.

Your last statement affirms you want to learn English, but from your submission, it obvious you not serious about that. You could improve your English with the tool provided you a smart.

Unspoken Rule number one of being eligible to get merit - NEVER start a thread in Meta calling out the Merit system on how to get merits. It is an ongoing joke in this forum now that the flood of newbies who used to spam in Meta has decreased a lot. But still we see new threads pop up everyday about Merit and how to get merits.

OP, First, English is not the biggest "Barrier" between getting merits and getting ignored by merit sources. If you want to learn English go back to school and dont come to a forum where majority of the content is written in English.

Second, Local boards are enough for people who dont understand English that much to get merit from. We have local board communities where merit sources prevail and they are getting merited accordingly - Thats how I can debunk you "myth" of "Good English = Merit"

In this context I would like to add my tip for shitposters who are trying hard to get merits - Do not post just to increase post count, post because you have something interesting or helpful to say.

I think you've laboured the point enough. Everybody knows about grammarly  and Google translate, and much of the advice about earning merit here states that you should avoid their use.

Anyway, I put you on ignore so that I can skip this thread.

Grammarly isn't going to be of much help if you can't speak English very well in the first place. Not much point when your grammar is almost perfect but the rest of the content of your post is a complete barely decipherable shitpost. If people can't speak English proficiently then they should stick to their local language boards as that's what they're there for. I think the legions of people trying to speak English when they quite clearly can't is a huge factor in the rapid decline in the quality/readability of the forum. When you combine poor English, a lack of knowledge about bitcoin/crypto being made by very young people who have posting quotas to meet to get paid it's just a huge recipe for disaster. Then multiply that by how many alt accounts the user has to maximise profits and it gets worse exponentially. This is another reason why campaign managers should start to be punished for accepting bad posters. Every manager should check a user's posts and if they're sub par then they shouldn't be accepted. If this happened then we wouldn't really have this issue.

I disagree. There is no indication that the legions of shitposters are, indeed, trying to speak English, or even to make any sincere attempt at communication at all. As an example, whenever I need to make myself understood in a language I barely understand, I can usually manage it through the combined application of dictionaries, grammar textbooks, and a little brainpower. It's not easy, but writing almost-competently in a foreign language is definitely doable if you really try. By contrast, posting the output of Google Translate without even checking it does not constitute trying, and the results are exactly as bad as anything else that's attempted without trying.

Let's not muddy the waters by pretending shitposters are trying to do anything other than spam.

Well, maybe you're much smarter than I am, but all I know is if I tired to speak in a foreign language that I had no familiarity with I would likely be just as bad as most of the shitposters here, if not worse. Most people aren't going to take the time to use textbooks, especially when time is money to them here. They churn out a generic one line shitpost then move onto the next thread to do the same. I know how difficult it is to speak another language, but this is another reason why they shouldn't be trying in the first place. What makes it worse is they're often using tools like google translate which aren't very efficient at all. Sure, they're ok for getting the gist of things but they shouldn't be used to actually translate things that are going to be published on a forum.

OP this tool isn't anything new

And boom, another thread about merit lol    Tongue  Roll Eyes
This thread is less about merits than it is a blatant advertisement for grammarly.

Is "punctuational" an actual word?  Never heard that one before.  In college once, I was on videotape as making up the word "dissolvage".  Don't know how I came up with that one, but it's something that's embarrassed me ever since.  Does grammarly catch such word mutations?

LOL!!! Busted! I don't know why do people want to sound like white people. People need to understand this that It's perfectly fine to use the Limited vocabulary they have. Instead of making a mess by using plugins like grammarly, you will at least make some sense. smdh!

Sarcasm, that's what gets you merit!

I have been in the forum for a while now and I have come across several threads and post by obsessed members relating to they not receiving merits for their posts(base on subjectivity). Most of these individuals have lower ranks in the forum and being part of this sect, I always take time to go through the submissions(replies) by other members and I found most of them being useful. Some of these submissions were from merit givers (merit sources, members with higher ranks etc), so I took them seriously and decided share with my fellows in this situation.

Reading the replies of other members, I realized that most of them made an emphasis on poor construction and issues relating to grammatical errors. Some people may have good ideas and submissions to share but expressing it becomes a problem. Bad grammar, spelling mistakes, punctuational errors change the meaning of intended messages and decrease the quality of a post.

Having these problems at hand, I will like to share with forum members a tool that I been using which I think might be of good use to everyone. And it goes by the name G R A M M A R LY.

Grammarly is a cloud-based English-language writing-enhancement platform developed by Grammarly, Inc. The software was first released in late 2009. Grammarly's proofreading and plagiarism-detection resources[4] check against more than 250 grammar rules.

Some benefits of Grammarly:
1. Get a thorough grammar check.
2. Fix tricky spelling errors.
3. Say goodbye to punctuation errors.

For flexibility and portability sake, they have a mobile application and a chrome extension to meet diverse user needs.

My personal advice:
The concept of merit can be related to real life occurrences. We are always advised to do good and expect no reward in return. The same idea applies to merit. At the right time, we will all be rewarded accordingly.

Visit https://www.grammarly.com/ now to get the tool integrated into your browser or get the mobile version on Google playstore.

Basing on the post of OP (not just in the replies made by people) this guy just wants to earn merits and basing on the subject you are trying to attract people. As for me I was curious because getting merits is a little hard to be practical but got to have some few because of my little post back than and I was so proud of it, never know that I would get merits.

I just created that topic because many people are asking and curious so I made one without knowing I could get merits and that is how I learn some few things about getting merits. That topic of mine got a(realize this thungs when got to earn merits)....

1. Small numbers of words that can easily be read.
2. No links (just saying no links, posting links in a topic may or may not get post that is what I think)
3. I would say its just simple and a kind of post that newbie could easily understand.

I never think of the right words, punctuations and stuffs that could get peoples attention by means of this idea you might get this from another thread that theymus posted or some other DTs post saying it should be constructive. For me I know myself Iam not fluent at any English writing so I practice it here the same time working.

So in other words I check the topic that earned merits never got the idea that my post is good in English, grammar and punctuation stuffs that could make a sentence or phrase good. Good and helpful content is the possible thing that could get peoples attention also a unique one.

This is interesting! Grin

Anyway, Grammarly is nothing new. It just fixes mostly minor typos. As for me, content is king: the authenticity, expertise/knowledge, and usefulness of a post will determine the number of merits I send.

For the OP, @quesi_job,

Using written English well is very important to express ideas in the way readers can easily understand what writers mean.
However, it is only one of the most important factors can help writers earn merits.
Beside well written threads, forum users also need good contents inside their threads.
How to get high quality (in terms of contents) threads?
It's very simple:
- Spending more time to read.
- Spending more time to think of what you have read, and try to understand what you read. Sometimes, readers can not understand what they read, and it probably takes so many times repeatedly read documents to get the ideas of authors.
- Spending more time to help others based on valuable knowledge which you get through your reading time.

By the way, I would like to share with you my topic on available free online courses on bitcoin and blockchain technology (most of courses are free and online).
