I'm using the newest version of Multibit, and I tried sending .3 bitcoins to someone over 2 days ago. It was seen by 17 peers, and was a white circle, but no confirmations. So since I couldn't figure out what to do, I chose the reset blockchain option, but I guess my transaction was not in the blockchain ever, so now the transaction just disappeared from my wallet. So I downloaded Electrum and exported the private keys, then put them into Electrum, and my transactions showed up except the .3 transaction still isn't appearing in that one. So does anyone have a guess as to what the problem might be? And how do I get the transaction to appear back on one of the wallets?

Also in a probably related issue, someone I knew that same day I sent the .3, says he sent me .7 bitcoins, but the transaction never even appeared on my screen. He said it was stuck at 0 confirmations, just like my other one. So that can't just be a coincidence both of them messing up on the same day, any ideas? I don't know if his had a fee, but I assume it did. Mine I was sending to a new address I had never used before, and I think I added in the fees, I typed in a higher # than I wanted to send, however I'm not 100% sure if the fees were on there or not. It usually just takes them out automatically for me. So both of these transactions are just gone, someone please help me to get them back, that's way too much to lose.

Thank You

Does blockchain.info show the transaction if you look for the receiving address?

If no:

Is the balance correct in MultiBit after the blockchain reset? ( does it include the 0.3? )
How is the balance in Electrum?

If the balance is correct in one of them, just send again.

No the blockchain doesn't show the transaction at all, and it didn't show up before I reset it. I didn't know you weren't supposed to reset it if it didn't show up in the blockchain. On my Multibit I have .23 bitcoins total showing, and that is the correct balance if the .3 had gone through, but actually I was supposed to have .7 from the other person so should say like .93 or so. At first I thought maybe he was lying and didn't send me the coins, but then since my other transaction had the exact problem he said so I trust him. Plus he has sent me coins in the past multiple times with no problems. I would love to just re-send the payment again, but the .3 bitcoins I sent out are still stuck somewhere. I read somewhere that after 5 days or some amount of time sometimes transactions just automatically get canceled, and returned to my account. But the problem is since I reset the chain now the .3 doesn't show up at all, so will they still auto get sent back to me, or do I need to do something first?

Oh also when I loaded Elecrum for the first time and imported the key, it had some weird message saying 2 things didn't load properly, I wrote down the exact message somewhere if you need that. But I'm assuming it was talking about the 2 messed up transactions. Is there anything else at all I can try to get the .3 either sent to the final address, or just sent back to me? It's not showing up in any blockchain, I even searched the blockchain with my sending and receiving address, and it shows every transaction I ever made fine, except these 2 don't show up. Also is there anything I can tell my friend to do so the .7 will get sent back to him so he can send to a different account of mine?

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I really hope I didn't just lose a bitcoin, that's a lot to lose. There's gotta be some way to have it show back up on my list. For the person that sent me some coins, they used an exchange place I found out. Is there any way for them to reverse the transaction so they can re-send it to me? I think I read if I try to double spend it will send the original back or something like that?

Creating a new wallet in Multibit, exporting the private keys from the old wallet and importing them into the new wallet fixed a similar balance problem.

If you you get a balance with the .3 included, I would send the whole amount to a new address to make sure that that old transaction ends as a double spend if it still floats around. Then I would send .3 again.

The person that wanted to send the .7 has to contact the exchange.

I have tried everything, spent a long time reading everywhere for help, nothing and no one can help me it seems. My friend did contact the exchange they said there was nothing they could do, and they did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong either, the place I sent them to said they can't do anything because they never got the coins, and I can't get them to show up on my wallet. I tried making a new wallet with multibit like you said, imported the keys, neither transaction show up. I tried resetting again to an earlier date on the 2nd wallet, nothing. I found a backup from 2 weeks ago, didn't help. I've talked to everyone I know, read everything on forums and google etc, nothing helps. At this point I don't know what else to try, and think I may have to give up, but that really sucks cuz that means I just lost a bitcoin and I didn't even do anything wrong.

Up until this point I loved bitcoins, and have been investing in them a lot, and buy things with them once in awhile, etc. But after this I realize just how bad of flaws in their program there really is, and no one can help. How is this thing supposed to go mainstream when you can just lose an entire bitcoin in 1 transaction with no explanation what went wrong, and nothing to do to fix it. I'm just glad I didn't trade more, if I had lost multiple coins I could never have recovered. Just is really sad that bitcoin can have such a major flaw, sorry going off on a rant just really sucks cuz I love bitcoins, but after this I don't know if I even want to use them anymore.

Well, I didn't expect the transactions to show up. I expected a balance of 0.53 to show up.
It is time to give us your address so we can check the blockchain.

As for the exchange: If the transaction doesn't show on blockchain.info and blockexplorer.com they have to make good otherwise they are scammers.
